What is generally the difference between an executive search firm and a recruitment firm?

Executive search firms always use a pro-active method of finding the most suitable candidates for you ('systematic direct search') and include a complex range of services in their search consulting activities (e.g. market reports, after placement integration support). Most recruitment firms rely mainly on re-active methods (database, advertisements) for finding a few suitable persons and do not offer any further services in connection with a search.
